II.1.4) Short description:
UK Research and Innovation (‘UKRI’) is planning to launch a procurement for a term service contract to provide minor building works for its component Research Council, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (‘STFC’). The contract will be for any such minor works up to a value of £650,000,00 GBP ex-VAT per project. STFC is applying a renewed and refreshed focus to its unique estate and infrastructure — recognising its strategic importance as an enabler of world class science and research. The current estate comprises a portfolio of old and new buildings, a diverse range of space/accommodation types, and a gradually changing position in terms of building condition and functional suitability.
This contract will cover minor building works. It is STFC's intention to appoint one contractor for an initial period of 3 years, with a possible 1-year extension (total 4 years). The forecast spend is estimated at between £3m GBP and £10m GBP (ex-VAT) per annum.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:
UKRI is planning to launch a procurement for a term service contract to provide minor building works for the STFC. The contract will be for any such minor works up to a value of £650 000,00 GBP ex-VAT per project. STFC is applying a renewed and refreshed focus to its unique estate and infrastructure — recognising its strategic importance as an enabler of world class science and research. The current estate comprises a portfolio of old and new buildings, a diverse range of space/accommodation types, and a gradually changing position in terms of building condition and functional suitability.
This contract will cover minor Building Works. It is STFC's intention to appoint 1 contractor for an initial period of 3 yrs, with a possible 1 yr extension (total 4 yrs). The contract will be based on NEC4 Term Service Contract using industry schedules of rates, and quotation methodology to work on ‘best price’ principle.

STFC would like to invite potential bidders to a virtual supplier day. There will be the opportunity to learn more about the diversity and the potential of this requirement and to ask any questions you may have.
Useful feedback from the days and Q&A sessions may be used to inform the final tender documentation, ensuring all valid options are considered.
The supplier day will take place on Tuesday 29th June 2021 from 10am - 12pm via Zoom. It is expected that once restrictions are opened up, a site tour will be possible during the next stage of the tender at Science and Technical Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus, Didcot, OX11 0QX.

The virtual supplier day will last approximately 2 hours, comprising the following:
— overview of the facilities and requirements,
— open floor Q&A,
— virtual site tour

The value is estimated at £40,000,000.00 GBP (ex VAT). Including extensions.

Please note, the main sites or places of performance: Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Oxfordshire, the associated Conference Centre (Cosenor’s House) at Abingdon, occasional works at Chilbolton Observatory, Chilbolton nr Stockbridge and any other satellite sites that STFC may acquire over the contract term.

We would request that attendance is restricted to key members of your organisation that would have a keen interest in this project and be able to add value to the discussions that will take place.

If you wish to attend the Supplier Event, please confirm your attendance no later than 12pm on Friday 25th June 2021. Details on how to join the event will then be sent out by email to registered suppliers.
