II.1.4) Short description:
The Estates Department within STFC is responsible for delivering all capital projects across all STFC campuses. There is a recently updated project delivery process which sets out a standard approach to the conception and delivery of capital projects – this extends to major refurbishments.

There is a set of design standards which are provided to the design team covering relevant building aspects including security, environmental sustainability, MEP, Soft-FM etc.

The architectural design will bring all of these together and provide a focus for design quality as required by STFC. This suite of design standards will be issued to design teams as a contractual document and they will be expected to design in accordance with them, though a process for derogation does exist.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:
UK Research and Innovation (‘UKRI’) is planning to launch a procurement for Architectural Design Standards for all new buildings and major refurbishment designs for its component Research Council, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (‘STFC’).

The contract will be based on the UKRI Standard Terms and Conditions for Goods & Services.

STFC would like to invite potential bidders to a supplier day at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (‘RAL’). There will be the opportunity to learn more about the requirement, open floor questions, and to have a tour of some of the facilities on site to understand the working environment, diversity, and the potential of this requirement.

Useful feedback from the days and Q&A sessions may be used to inform the final tender documentation, ensuring all valid options are considered.

The supplier day will take place on Wednesday 19th July 2023 starting at 09:30am at the Science and Technical Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus, Didcot, OX11 0QX.

The supplier day will last approximately 2.5 hours, comprising the following:
— overview of the facilities and requirements,
— open floor Q&A,
— site tour,
