II.2.4) Description of the procurement: UKRI wishes to establish a Contract for the provision a superconducting solenoid. STFC is looking to replace the 30-year-old superconducting solenoid that is currently installed on the RIKEN-RAL beamline at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Facility at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), UK. We require a complete system replacement, including the magnet, cooling system, power supply and controls. The new magnet will be a 5 T, 5.5 m long, horizontal superconducting solenoid with a 120 mm diameter warm bore. The cooling system will be cryogen-free or recondensing (zero boil-off).
