3. Explanation
UKRI needs to upgrade the existing Trox infrastructure (at the LMB)with the latest technology. Since the infrastructure is already built and maintained by Trox, it is technically complex and disproportionately expensive to replace it with another system. Trox are the sole provider of the identified requirement due to the proprietary nature of the existing infrastructure, especially in specialist labs. Using Trox directly avoids the risk of technical incompatibilities and ensures continuity in the technology.
