This programme will be an evolution of the existing STEM Ambassador programme: the UK’s largest science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) informal learning engagement programme for young people. Young people, as the decision makers, citizens and workers of the future, are crucial to realising our vision for Public Engagement (PE) to reshape a more equitable relationship between society and research and innovation. UKRI want the research and innovation system to be a part of everyday culture; one that young people feel works for their benefit and that of society, and which they can enjoy, participate in or challenge. Our Public Engagement Strategy has three key goals: 1.Build a sense of shared endeavour by making R&I relevant and accessible to all 2.Making sure the benefits of R&I are shared widely by supporting collaboration and valuing diverse forms of knowledge. 3.Create opportunities for all by inspiring and engaging the next generation. UKRI is running a competed procurement opportunity and seeking a supplier to deliver a refreshed programme that builds on the success of the STEM Ambassadors programme and incorporates UKRI’s public engagement strategy and goals. It is anticipated that the programme will be delivered from 1st October 2024 until 30 September 2026.
